Powerful, protective, and impressively built, the Anatolian is
without equal as a guardian dog. Originally from Turkey, these hardy
dogs can endure extreme climates and have been bred, not for looks,
but for ability, over the centuries. Most villagers in Turkey do not
own guns and rely on their dogs alone to protect their livestock and
homes. The Anatolian is impressively powerful but agile. They can
reach speeds of 40 mph and have a single side track which enables
them to cover rough terrain on narrow paths. Their first line of
defense is a warning bark which escalates if the perceived threat
does not leave.
